 Sun Smith-Fôret's mixed media textiles were included in an event at Pulitzer Art Foundation's PXSTL Event Space, St. Louis, MO (July 2014).


In July, Sun Smith-Fôret was invited to include her mixed media textiles as an architectural element and content-appropriate imagery/text as part of a collaborative community-building event held at Pulitzer Art Foundation's PXSTL Event Space, St. Louis, MO. The event included a potluck dinner organized by FoodSpark, an art, agriculture & nutrition think tank, Sun’s textiles and oral history taking specific to St. Louis.


Ken Wood has been working with Pele Prints this Summer collaborating on publishing a series of four large-scale 44”x40” relief prints, printed in two different color schemes. He writes that each print has three colors/three layers and will be editioned in groups of four. Ken has worked with Pele Prints since 2010. Glass sculptor Michelle Hamilton attended the 2014 Missouri Arts Awards ceremony held in Jefferson City, MO in early February. She was commissioned by the Missouri Arts Council to make the Awards that were given to the honorees.

Linda writes, ”On the surface, this collection represents owned objects, but it is more about the interpretation of personal stories and history. These photographs are intimate glimpses into what objects individuals cherish, whether they explain reasons for actions… allow them to tell you about individual lives.”

Marilynne Bradley is being honored with the 2013 Lifetime Achievement in the Arts award by the Webster Groves Arts Commission. This annual award is given to a Webster Groves, MO resident who has made exceptional contributions to the arts. The Awards ceremony takes place at Webster Groves City Hall on October 11, 5:30-7 p.m. Marilynne is well-known for her vibrant watercolor paintings of buildings & scenes of the region & for combining her artistic talents with a deep knowledge of & interest in history. Her book, St. Louis in Watercolor, the Architecture of a City, joins her artworks that are recognized in museums, juried competitions & include in many corporate collections.

Shadows of Summer, a mural by Marilynne Bradley, has been painted on the wall of Mac Hardware in Webster Groves, MO. The idea for the mural came about when Bradley saw the shadow cast on the wall at 6:45 p.m. on a warm July night. “It reminded me of a Japanese painting. Ceramic artist Dawson Morgan was recently selected by Missouri Humanities Council to create their 2012 Awards for a ceremony to be held in April 2013. These awards will honor 10 individuals and organizations whose achievements are worthy of statewide attention. The Missouri Humanities Council presents the awards in recognition of outstanding teaching in Missouri schools, exceptional community outreach by individuals and institutions, and exemplary achievement in literature. Each year, the Council selects an artist to make handmade awards as their actual Awards, and this year, the Council commissioned their Award to be created by Dawson.
