Our 28th annual exhibition featured works in a variety of media by St. Louis regional artists.

Art Saint Louis XXVII: The Exhibition was juried by Richard V. West. Mr. West is an art historian, curator, author and Director Emeritus of the Frye Art Museum in Seattle, WA. Over his career, he has curated exhibits that reveal his interest in both the fine arts and popular culture—exhibitions ranging from “Munich and American Realism in the Nineteenth Century” (1978) to “Children of the Yellow Kid: The Evolution of the American Comic Strip” (1998).

In recent years, West has concentrated on exhibitions, essays, and lectures highlighting the work of contemporary artists who are redefining the boundaries of representation, from Odd Nerdrum to Mark Ryden. West has also juried or co-juried national and regional exhibitions, including "Watercolor USA," "Art Maui," and "Expressions West," as well as serving as guest curator for the "Miami Art Fair." He is currently preparing a monograph on American painter and illustrator Rockwell Kent. West has served on the Professional Practices Committee of the College Art Association and the Ethics and Standards Committee of the Association of Art Museum Directors.

Congratulations to the five artists selected by Juror Richard V. West to receive Awards of Excellence in recognition of their outstanding works in this exhibition: Jason Ackman, Jo Jasper Dean, Dominic Finocchio, M.J. Goerke, and Marjorie Williamson. Awards were announced on November 10 at our opening peception for the exhibit.

Our 28th annual all media, all styles, all techniques, and all themes exhibit was open to artists 21+ residing in St. Louis and the surrounding 200-mile radius. From 636 artworks submitted by 153 St. Louis regional artists, Juror Richard V. West selected artworks in all media by 67 artists from Missouri and Illinois.

MEET THE ARTISTS SATURDAYS
In conjunction with our two current exhibits, Art Saint Louis hosted several Meet the Artists Saturdays wherein featured artists were on-hand in the Gallery to greet visitors and discuss their works in the show. As always, these very casual and unstructured events were free and open to the public.
