A View from the Edge

Know anyone who’s had a near-death experience? You do now. Art Saint Louis is charging forward these days with the kind of zest sparked by nothing less than a brush with mortality. We were nearly forced to close our doors earlier this year out of severe financial need. But our community would have none of that! My thanks go out to all who stepped up to ensure the future of Art Saint Louis. If the virtual rebirth of this organization proves anything, it’s that art matters to people in St. Louis. I get that at a gut level. It’s why I’m thrilled to be part of the next chapter in this organization’s 25-year history.

Exciting times are in store, my friends. The array of talent we’re showcasing in our gallery and elsewhere, including on our new website, the wide variety of programs and events we’re cooking up for 2012 and beyond, and the generosity and resolve of our board and other volunteers; these are signs not only of enduring purpose and strength, but of momentum!

The real-world pressure of finances is far from gone for Art Saint Louis, and, like every worthy cause, we continue to depend on the generosity of those who value our work. And what exactly is the work of Art Saint Louis, you ask? It starts with recognizing that visual art is one of the most powerful ways to nurture and connect our community—artists and audiences alike. From there, it’s ever-evolving.

Stay tuned… Or better yet, join in!

Warmly,

Chandler
