VOICES 2012 ARTIST RESIDENCY
Art Saint Louis proudly presents our 2012 "Voices" program at The Wilson School, an early childhood & elementary school in Clayton, MO. Our Artist-in-Residence portion of the program runs May 7-18, 2012 and culminates with a special artist-student exhibition this Fall.
Serving as Artists-in-Residence for our 2012 program are Art Saint Louis member artists Megan Rieke and Russell Vanecek. Meg is working with Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten and 1st Graders; Russell is working with 2nd through 6th graders.

For over a dozen years, Art Saint Louis has presented our unique "Voices" Artist Residency & exhibition program at St. Louis area elementary, middle and high schools, providing youth artists the opportunity to work with professional artists and allowing the students to study the artists' media, techniques and styles, as well as learn about the life & career of an artist. Through educational programming combined with art-making and exhibition, art becomes a dynamic vehicle for dialogue between artists and students and enhances arts curriculum in each school.
ASL's "Voices" program has been presented at: Bellerive Elementary, Parkway School District; Clayton High School; Dewey International Studies Elementary School, St. Louis Public Schools; Forsyth School; Fox High School; Ladue Horton Watkins High School; Mann eMints Acadamy, St. Louis Public Schools; Nerinx Hall; New City School; Rossman School; and The College School.
Our gratitude to JP Cartmill, ASL Board President, for all of her hard work, time & efforts in organizing and making our 2012 Voices program happen at The Wilson School. We also wish to thank artists Megan Rieke and Russell Vanecek for their work with the students and to art instructor Diane SIgnor for working with Art Saint Louis for over a year on getting this project scheduled.
Due to a fire at The Wilson School earlier this year, our program is taking place at Maryland Elementary School in Clayton. The exhibit portion of our program will be held this Fall at The Wilson School when renovations on the school have been completed (dates TBD). We'll keep you updated.
Thanks to all who joined us last weekend for the opening reception and block party for Food, Glorious Food in downtown St. Louis! Most especially we want thank the artists, volunteers, musicians, wineries and food trucks who made the event so special. It was a delight to share the occasion with you all, and, thanks to the fine video work of the Arbor Group and New World Post Productions, we can now share a bit of the excitement with everyone else! Enjoy!
Stay tuned! The fun continues...

Art Saint Louis is pleased to welcome Claude Lyles, visual artist and Vice President at US Bank’s Private Client Reserve, as the newest addition to our organization’s Board of Directors. In addition to his work in the banking industry, Mr. Lyles is a painter and holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Fine Arts from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He previously served on the Foundation Board of St. Charles Community College.
Claude Lyles’s contact with Art Saint Louis began with a visit to the gallery in the fall of 2011, where he was impressed with the quality and variety of the regional art exhibited. ASL Executive Director Chandler Branch views Mr. Lyles's board appointment as a sign of organizational growth. “Claude’s involvement as a member of the board is an expression of his enthusiasm for the organization’s work and future,” writes Mr. Branch. “The energy he has invested in our mission, already, is an important part of the organization’s forward momentum.”
